ESSE Special Gold: strong cigarettes with an unusual flavor! That’s what they say about them

Indeed there are such reviews and not a few. Although there are big doubts about the fact that cigarettes are really strong. After all, ESSE is mostly mass consumption. So where is the strength coming from? But many people were right about the flavor. It’s really not ordinary.
So what kind of cigarettes are these and is it worth spending money on them and even more so time? I will tell and show you everything in this review!

ESSE’s Special Gold variety is not a “limited edition”, these cigarettes have been on sale for a long time, but it definitely stands apart from the rest of the range. It stands out by its design and… And that’s what I’m going to tell you about today.

My pack from three years ago, just at the time when Special Gold was just changing its livery. The austere and elegant design of the previous version gave way to a new, bright, flashy, youthful design. However, as fans of the brand say, everything in the cigarettes itself remained the same.

The statement that ESSE is “brand #1” seems to be on almost all packs nowadays. So it’s not only Special Gpld that is so unique, it’s about the whole brand in general. However, as is often the case in life, there is a note in small print where KT&G specify that, firstly, this is not their opinion, and, secondly, it was only one year))).

The design of the cigarettes itself has remained from the previous version, retaining both style and elegance. But with such a pack simple-looking cartridge cases rather dissonant. After all, taking into account the modern trends of design it was expected to get a multicolor print inside, and here…. So fans of Esse JEC or Summer Pop may be disappointed by this approach. Structurally, the sleeve does not differ from the majority of super thin “brethren”. There is a half-empty stuffing with stuffing, a usual acetate filter, and perforation of its paper. However, it is the perforation that distinguishes Special Gold from some “classmates”. Still, not all thin cigarettes have four rings at once. And, such technical peculiarity, at once crosses out the hope for a strong smoke. As well as any sane smoke flavor.

Unlike KT&G’s recent innovation, the “super thin” Bohem cigarillos, the Special Gold has plenty of filler in the casings. But there’s not much that looks like tobacco leaf. No more than a third of it. The rest are various slices of vein and surrogate leaf. Tar-characteristics of cigarettes are declared as follows: tar 4 mg, nicotine 0,4 mg. So it is very unclear where some smokers find the strength of smoke here.

I didn’t expect anything good from such a blend, but there is nothing really. In the smoke the bitterness of burnt paper is very noticeable, the sauce, and it is here, should have hidden it, but…. But it didn’t. Chemistry, by the way, although it has its own flavor, but it’s not easy to define it. Something herbaceous and sweet without being cloying. But this slight tinge with the paper inside and out does not cope with it, instead it adds a strange and inappropriate nuance to the smoke.

What’s the result? No, there was no miracle) This is a completely ordinary super light, the strength corresponds to the stated strength and it is not realistic to get high with them. The flavor of the smoke is for the amateur, not mine for sure. The perforations desperately siphon air when smoking, but it’s not bad. Tried trimming the filter below the “holes” and …. Almost without a filter and without air, the variety revealed itself to the full.

Of course, everyone has their own tastes and preferences, but personally for me it is a total disappointment. Cute packaging is the only thing worth paying attention to in these cigarettes.
