L&M is the brand name for cigarettes manufactured by Philip Morris International (formerly Altria Group). L&M is an abbreviation of the first letters of the names of two associates, John Edmund Liggett and Smith Myers, founders of Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company. L&M cigarettes entered the U.S. market in late 1953 as Liggett Group’s first filter cigarettes.
