U.S. tightens regulations on tobacco sales

People under 30 in the US will now only be able to buy tobacco products with a photo ID.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has tightened regulations on the sale of tobacco products, requiring buyers under the age of 30 to present a photo ID. The agency announced this on Thursday, August 29th.

Previously, this rule applied to those under the age of 27 who wished to purchase tobacco products. At the same time, a ban was introduced on the sale of tobacco in vending machines located in places where people under the age of 21 have access. Previously, this applied to places where young people under the age of 18 could access.
